Task Reminder

  1. Exercise: Shooting practice, shoot & editing (add caption:Adobe Premiere Pro CC - Basic Titles for Beginners), post it in your blog under Exercises section.
    • Shoot wide shot with wide angle.
    • The rest ZOOM IN to get soft background.
    • Refer to the examples provided or google references for GOOD composition.
    • Avoid overexposed or underexposed (too bright or too dark).
    • Do the shooting during day time.
    • Shoot landscape format video, 5 seconds per shot.
    • Edit with CAPTION (Mention the shot size), export video for submission.

Now, give your knowledge on 3-act structure a run for the money.
By now you should have already watched:1.  Lalin, 2. Everything, everywhere, all at once.
Based on each of the movies, 

  1. Which part is act 1, act 2, act 3 respectively? Describe each act with ONE paragraph only. 

    • Lalin
      • Act 1: This is when Lalin gets introduced and she explains that she is an internet model with a dark secret. Her backstory is explained, how she was bullied in school and called Ms. Meteorite, and then she tells the viewers she moved to Japan. It continues to show how Lalin has adjusted to her new life in Japan, covering her face with her mask even at home.
      • Act 2: A man named Nut messages Lalin online to ask if she can translate his book and she agrees. They start messaging and calling through the phone frequently developing a relationship until Nut unexpectedly shows up in Japan to meet Lalin but she refuses to see him. He still wants her to read his book.
      • Act 3: Lalin starts to read Nut's book and finds out that she actually met him right before she left for Japan and that he wrote his book about her. She realises the mistake she's made and runs after Nut but in vain because he has already left.

      • The midpoint happens when Nut reveals that he has travelled all the way to Japan to meet Lalin in person to give her his book.

    The folder consists of a muted video, and a Word’s file for the dialogues.
    Follow the instruction, prepare the audios (dialogue, hard sound effects, ambient sounds) for week 4 in class audio dubbing: VPS2024 Project 1 Audio Dubbing Exercise
  2. Use Ripple Edit Tool (E30 - The Ripple Edit - The Tool Bar - Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2020) to trim Lalin to exactly 35 seconds sharp.
  3. Read Week 3 Asynchronous material: Storyboarding, complete the Quiz and Report in blog under Exercises.
  4. Edit Shooting Exercise 2, document it in in blog under Exercises.

  1. Production shoot editing (Movie Trailer - 25-30 secs)
    Please download the footage and audio provided by your producer and edit a draft with synchronised dialogue. Auto sync audio: How to Auto Sync Audio with Video in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 
    We will need it for color correction and color grading in our week 7 class.
    When it comes to the editing, please don't feel constrained by the chronological order of the storyboard. Instead, try something unique and engaging, similar to a trailer or a music video. You can find inspiration in the works of previous students here:
